Uses

Cetirizine is an antihistamine that is used to relieve the symptoms of allergies such as water eyes, runny nose, itching eyes / nose, sneezing, urticaria and itching. It works by blocking a definite natural substance (histamine) that creates your body during the allergic reaction.

Cetirizine does not prevent or prevent hives due to a serious allergic reaction (such as anaphylaxis). Therefore, if your doctor has prescribed epinephrine for allergy treatment, always keep your epinephrine injector with you. Do not use Cetirizine in place of your epinephrine.

How to use Cetirizine HCL

If you are taking over-the-counter products to self-treat yourself, then read all the guidelines on the product package before taking this medicine. If you have any questions, consult your pharmacist. If your doctor has prescribed this medicine, then direct it, usually daily.

If you are using chewing pills, chew each tablet well and swallow it. If you are using a fast dissolving tablet, allow the tablet to dissolve on the tongue and then swallow it with or without water. If you are using the liquid form of this drug, then carefully measure the dose using special measurement equipment / spoon. Do not use domestic spoon because you can not get the right dose.

Dosage is based on the reaction of your age, medical condition and treatment. Do not increase your dose or take this medicine more often than directed.

Tell your doctor if your allergic symptoms do not improve, if your hives are not improved after 3 days of treatment, or if your hives is more than 6 weeks. If your condition worsens or you feel that you have a serious medical problem (such as very serious allergic reactions / anaphylaxis) then immediately seek medical help.

Side Effects

Drowsiness, fatigue and mouth dryness may occur. There may also be stomach pain, especially in children. If any of these effects persists or worsens, tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

If your doctor has prescribed Cetirizine, remember that he or she has decided that the benefit is higher than the risk of side effects. Many people using this drug do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor immediately if you have a serious side effect, including: difficulty in urinating, weakness.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, if you see symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, get medical help immediately, including: granular, itching / swelling (especially the face / tongue / throat), severe dizziness, shortness of breath

Precautions

Before taking cetirizine, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to it; Or for hydroxyzine; Or for levocetirizine; Or if you have any other allergens. This product may contain passive elements, which may cause allergic or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Before using Cetirizine, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially: difficulty in urinating (such as due to an increased prostate), kidney disease, liver disease.

If you are using this medicine to treat the hives, tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these other symptoms because they may be signs of a more serious condition: the hives that are an unusual color, The hives that appear to be boiled or blister, do not scratch them.

Cetirizine can strain you. Alcohol or marijuana can make you more stupid. Unless you can safely do this, do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that requires caution. Avoid alcoholic beverages. If you are using marijuana, talk to your doctor.

Liquid products can contain sugar. If you have diabetes then it is advised to take precautions. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about using this product safely.

Before surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products that you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs and herbal products).

During pregnancy, Cetirizine should be used only when explicitly necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

This medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Interactions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are taking other products, such as opiate pain or cough relief substances (such as codeine, hydrocodone), alcohol, marijuana, sleep or anxiety medications (e.g,  alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem) Due to relaxing muscles, drowsiness causes. (Such as carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine), or other antihistamines (such as chlorpheniramine, diphenhydramine).

Check the label on all your drugs (like allergy or cough-and-cold products), because they may contain ingredients that cause drowsiness. Ask your pharmacist about using those products safely.

Do not use any other antihistamines applied to the skin (such as diphenhydramine cream, ointment, spray) because of increased side effects.

Cetirizine is similar to hydroxyzine and levocetirizine. Do not use these drugs while using Cetirizine.

Cetirizine can interfere with some laboratory tests (including allergic skin testing), possibly causing false test results. Ensure that the lab staff and all your doctors know that you use this medicine.

OverDose

If someone is treated and has serious symptoms such as difficulty in getting out or breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call the Poison Control Center immediately. American residents can call their local venom control center at 1-800-222-1222. Canadians can call a provincial poison control center. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe sleepiness In children, changes in mental / mood (such as uneasiness, irritability) may occur before drowsiness.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, then as soon as you remember it, take it. If it is near the next dose time, then leave the thesis dose and set your normal dose. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Storage

Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Different brands of this drug may require different storage. Check the product package for instructions on how to store your brand, or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medications away from children and pets.

Until instructed to do so, do not flush the medicines under the toilet or drain them in the drain. When this period expires or is not required, leave this product appropriately. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company.
