Uses

Aripiprazole, sold under the brand name Abilify among others. Aripiprazole is used to treat certain mental / mood disorders (such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, Torture disorder and irritability related to autistic disorder). It can also be used in combination with other medicines for the treatment of depression. Aripiprazole is known as an antipsychotic drug (atypical type). It works by helping to restore the balance of some natural chemicals in the brain (neurotransmitters).

This medication can reduce the hallucinations and improve your concentration. It helps you to think more clearly and positive about yourself, feels less fright, and takes a more active part in everyday life. Aripiprazole can treat severe mood swings and reduce how often the mood swing occurs.

How to use Aripiprazole

Read the medication guide and, if available, the patient information leaflet provided by your pharmacist, when you start taking Aripiprazole and every time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Directly medicate Aripiprazole with your mouth or without food, usually daily once. Dosage is based on your medical condition, treatment response, age and other medicines you may be taking. Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs and herbal products). To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start this medication on low dose and gradually increase your dose. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.

The manufacturer directs this drug to swallow completely. However, many similar drugs (instant-release tablet) can be divided / crushed. Follow your doctor’s instructions on how to take this medication.

If you are using the liquid form of Aripiprazole, then carefully measure the dose using special measurement equipment / cups. Do not use domestic spoon because you can not get the right dose.

This drug can rarely cause a very serious condition, which is called  neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS). Before taking Aripiprazole, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to it; Or if you have any other allergens. This product may contain passive materials (such as propylene glycol), which can cause allergic or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Aripiprazole can cause you to feel dizziness or lethargy or blurry vision. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any such activity for which you need a vigilance or a clear vision, unless you are not sure that you can do such activities safely. Avoid alcoholic beverages.

Aripiprazole can reduce sweating, which is more likely to cause heat stroke. Avoid doing things that can cause you to heat, such as hard work or exercise in hot weather, or using hot tub. When the weather is warm, drink lots of fluids and wear light clothes. If you heat more, then quickly find a place to relax and relax. If you do not have a fever, then seek medical help immediately after changes in mental / mood, headache, or dizziness.

The liquid preparation of this product can be sugar. If you have diabetes then caution is recommended. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about using this product safely.

Older adults may be more susceptible to the side effects of Aripiprazole, especially on tour, drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, confusion, tardive dyskinesia, swallowing problems and other serious (rarely fatal) side effects. Interactions

Over Dose

If someone is treated and has serious symptoms like having trouble going out or breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call the Poison Control Center immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: very fast heartbeat, loss of consciousness.

Do not share this medication with others.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, then as soon as you remember it, take it. If it is near next dose time, then leave the thesis dose and start your normal dose program again. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Storage

Store tablet and oral fluid at room temperature, away from light and moisture. After 6 months of opening or after the expiry date, whichever comes first, leave the oral solution. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
