GENERIC NAME(S): Lorazepam

Uses

Lorazepam, sold under the brand name Ativan among others. This drug is used to treat anxiety. Ativan is related to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines which creates a calming effect on the brain and nerves (central nervous system). Ativan works by increasing the effect of a certain natural chemical (GABA) in the body.

How to use Ativan

Before starting the Ativan, read the medication guide provided by your pharmacist and every time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take Ativan with your doctor’s prescribed diet or without mouth. Dosage is based on your medical condition, age and response to treatment.

If your doctor has been directed, use this medicine regularly so that it can get the most benefit. To help you remember, use each day at the same time.

Ativan can cause a reaction to a withdrawal, especially if it is used regularly for long or high doses (more than 1-4 weeks) or if you have alcohol, drug abuse, or personality disorder Has history. Precautions

Before taking Ativan, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to it; Or other benzodiazepines (such as Lorazepam,  clonazepam,  diazepam); Or if you have any other allergens.
