Neurontin Capsule

GENERIC NAME(S): Gabapentin

Uses

Gabapentin, sold under the brand name Neurontin among others. The use of Neurontin is done with other medicines to prevent and control the tour. It is also used to relieve nerve pain after the herpes (painful rashes due to an herpes rib infection) in adults. Neurontin is known as an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic drug.

How to use Neurontin

Read the medication guide and, if available, the patient information sheet is provided by your pharmacist before you start taking Neurontin and every time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take this medicine with your doctor’s prescribed diet or without mouth. Dosage is based on your medical condition and treatment response. For children, the dose is also based on weight.

If you are taking a tablet and your doctor is instructing you to divide the tablet in half, then take another half-tablet on your next set dose. If they are not used within several days of dividing, then release half pills. If you are taking capsules, then they will swallow a lot of water.

It is very important to follow your doctor’s dosage instructions accurately. During the first few days of treatment, your doctor may gradually increase your dose, so that your body can be adjusted in the drug. To reduce side effects, take the first dose while sleeping.

Take this medication regularly to get the most benefit of it. This drug works best when the amount of drug is kept at a stable level in your body. Side Effects

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, if you see symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, get medical help, including: fever, swelling lymph nodes, rash, itching / swelling (especially the face / tongue / throat), severe dizziness, respiratory distress.

Precautions

Over Dose

Missed Dose
