Uses

Ramipril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Reducing hypertension helps prevent stroke, heart attack and kidney problems. Ramipril is also used to improve survival after heart attack. This high risk patients (such as heart disease / diabetic patients) can be used to help prevent heart attack and stroke. This drug can also be used to treat heart failure in patients who have recently suffered a heart attack.

Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor and works by resting blood vessels so that blood flowed more smoothly.

How to use Ramipril

Directly take Ramipril by mouth or by your doctor at the meal, usually daily or twice daily.

If you are taking capsule form of Ramipril, then swallow it completely. If you have difficulty in swallowing the capsule, then the capsule can be opened and the content is mixed in cold apple (about 4 oz) or half glass water or apple juice (4 ounces / 120 ml). Swallow or drink the whole mixture.

Dosage is based on your medical condition and treatment response.

To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start this medication on low dose and gradually increase your dose. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.

Use Ramipril regularly so that it can get the most benefit. To help you remember, take it every day at the same time. It is important to continue taking this medicine even if you feel OK. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick.

For the treatment of hypertension, it may take several weeks for you to get the full benefit of this medicine. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it gets worse (such as your blood pressure readings are high or increased).

Side Effects

Precautions

Before taking Ramipril, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to it; Or for other ace inhibitors (such as benazepril); Or if you have any other allergens. If you are getting injections for beekeeping / wasp sting, you can get very serious reactions and take Ramipril too. Make sure all your doctors know what medicines you are using.

Over Dose

If someone is treated and has serious symptoms such as difficulty in getting out or breathing, call 911. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe dizziness, unconsciousness

Missed Dose

Storage
