GENERIC NAME(S): Bupropion Hcl

Uses

Bupropion, sold under the brand names Wellbutrin and Zyban among others. This medicine is used in combination with stop-smoking programs (e.g., support groups, counseling) to help you quit smoking. Zyban can reduce the symptoms of your nicotine withdrawal (e.g., irritability, anxiety, restlessness) and urge to smoke. Quitting smoking will reduce the risk of cancer along with your heart and lung disease.

This medicine is related to a class of drugs called antidepressants. It is not actually known how Zyban works to reduce the urge to smoke. It can work by restoring the balance of some natural chemicals (neurotransmitters) in the brain.

Discuss the risks and benefits of this drug, as well as other methods of quitting smoking (such as nicotine replacement therapy), with your doctor.

How to use Zyban

Before starting use of Zyban or Bupropion and when you receive a refill, read the Patient Information leaflet and medication guide available from your pharmacist. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Take this medicine from mouth, without food, usually three times a day. If the stomach is bad, then you can take this medicine with food. It is necessary to take at least 6 hours separately to reduce the risk of your doctor being guided or seizure.

Do not take more or less medication or take more than prescribed. Taking more than the recommended dose of Zyban may increase your risk of having a seizure. Do not take more than 150 mg as a dose, and do not take more than 450 mg per day.

Your dose is based on your medical condition and medical reaction. Your dose may gradually increase side effects such as sleepiness, and reduce risk of tourism. To avoid trouble in sleep, do not take this medicine even closer to sleep. Tell your doctor if there is a problem of sleeping.

Use this drug regularly so that it can get the most benefit. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day.

Do not stop taking this medicine without consultation with your doctor. When the drug suddenly stops, some conditions may get worse. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased.

Nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, headache, constipation, increased sweating, joints pain, sore throat, blurred vision, strange taste in the mouth, diarrhea, or dizziness can come. If any of these effects persists or worsens immediately, inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Remember that your doctor has prescribed this drug because he or she has decided that the benefit is higher than the risk of side effects. Many people using this drug do not have serious side effects.

Zyban can increase your blood pressure. Check your blood pressure regularly and tell your doctor if the results are high.

Before taking a Zyban or Bupropion, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to it; Or if you have any other allergens. This product can have passive elements, which can cause allergic or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

This drug should not be used if you are stopping regular use of sedative (including benzodiazepines such as lorazepam), medicines used to treat seizures or alcohol. Doing this can increase the risk of your tour.

Although abnormal, depression can lead to thoughts or suicide attempts. During pregnancy, this drug should be used only when it is clearly necessary. Taking the MAO inhibitor with this drug can be a cause of serious (potentially fatal) drug interactions. During treatment with this drug, avoid taking the MAO inhibitor (isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, safinamide, selegiline, tranylcypromine). Most MAO inhibitors should not be taken for two weeks before and after treatment with this drug. Ask your doctor when to start or stop this medication.

Zyban may interfere with certain medical / laboratory tests (brain scan for Parkinson’s disease, including urine test for amphetamine), possibly giving incorrect results. Tell laboratory personnel and all your doctors that you use this medicine.

Over Dose

If someone is treated and has serious symptoms like having trouble going out or breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call the Poison Control Center immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: seizures, hallucinations, fast or slow heart rate, loss of consciousness.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, then leave the missed dose and start your normal dose program again. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Storage

Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. There may be a strange odor in the Zyban tablets. It is normal and the use of medicine is still fine. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.

Until instructed not to do so, do not flush the medicines in the toilet and do not drain in the drain. When this period expires or does not need it, then properly release this product. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company.
