Uses

Clopidogrel, sold as the brandname Plavix among others. Plavix is used to prevent heart attack (recent heart attack), recent stroke, or heart attack and stroke with circulatory disease (peripheral vascular disease).

It is also used to treat new / worsening chest pain (new heart attack, unstable angina) with aspirin and to keep blood vessels open and to prevent blood clots after some procedures (such as cardiac stent) .

Plavix works by sticking platelets together and prevents them from forming harmful clots. This is an antiplatelet drug. It helps in flowing the blood smoothly in your body.

How to use Plavix

Before starting Plavix or Clopidogrel, read the medication guide given by your pharmacist and every time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take Plavix with or without mouth directed by your doctor, usually daily once daily. Take this medication regularly to get the most benefit of this. To help you remember, take it every day at the same time.

The dose and length of treatment is based on your medical condition and treatment response. If you are taking this medication to prevent clotting after stent implant or other procedure, then this medicine is prescribed by your doctor according to the procedure for several months with aspirin for years (depending on the type of stent / procedure). Precautions

Before taking clopidogrel or Plavix, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to it; Or similar antiplatelet drugs (thienopyridines such as prasugrel); Or if you have any other allergens. This product may contain passive elements, which may cause allergic or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Other medicines can affect the removal of Plavix from your body, which can affect the way Plavix works. Examples include some acid reducer (proton pump inhibitors / PPIs such as omeprazole,  esomeprazole),  fluvoxamine,  fluoxetine,  cimetidine,  fluconazole,  ketoconazole,  voriconazole,  etravirine,  felbamate,  and ticlopidine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist immediately for more information.

Plavix can slow down the removal of other drugs from your body, which can affect how they work. Examples of affected medicines include dasabuvir, repaglinide, and others.

Carefully review all the prescription and non-prescription medication labels from the painkillers of many medicines / fever recipients (NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin). These medicines can increase the risk of bleeding / antiplatelet effect when used with Plavix. Ask your pharmacist about using these products safely.

Over Dose

Missed Dose
